Succeed in Secondary, Wednesdays 7pm – 8pm
This course is for young people moving to secondary school or in S1, S2 or S3. Topical events form the centrepiece for project work, discussions and debate. The children encounter new skills that will prepare them for the transition and the course is a great way to motivate young people and give them confidence.
Explore Writing, Tuesday 7-8pm
This fantastic creative writing course has been designed in conjunction with Explore Learning, Immersive Education and the University of Oxford. Explore Writing is open to all members aged 8-14 year olds. Lead by Explore Tutors, the course gives children the opportunity to:
* stretch their imagination
* become skilled in a range of writing styles
* produce pieces of work they can be proud of

Entrance Exams, Monday 6-7pm
If your child is preparing for an Entrance Exam into a private school, then you can benefit from this customized course! Looking at verbal and non-verbal reasoning, this is a wonderful way to make sure your child goes into the exam with confidence. All children who have taken the course have got into their school of choice!
Explore Learning Blackhall and Schools
Over the past 5 years, the team at Blackhall have worked with many local schools and have provided free numeracy and literacy workshops. Our workshops are Scottish curriculum aligned and are designed to get children really enthusiastic about their work. We can provide assembly activities and love to get involved with other activities happening at the schools i.e. school fetes.
If you would like us to get involved in activities in your school, please don’t hesitate to contact the centre as we will be happy to provide you with a booking form for the literacy and numeracy workshops over the next couple of terms or to discuss other possibilities with you.
Community Workshops
We have thoroughly enjoyed getting involved with our local community. We have had many local Brownie groups visit our centre playing interactive games to gain their numeracy and literacy badges. We also regularly arrange fun maths and English workshops at local libraries, which are free for families in the area. Look out for upcoming events at your local library or contact Blackhall Explore Learning for more information.
Members Workshops
During the school holidays we hold a number of free workshops. These cover all ages and all members are welcome to sign up! Speak to a manager about which one will suit you best. Our next set of workshops will be commencing in the October half term. Keep your eyes peeled for our Newsletter which will have all times and dates of our upcoming workshops.
Open Sessions
Open sessions are a great opportunity to find out more about your child's work at Explore. Come along to the centre and let your child be your tutor for the afternoon, they can show you their work, tell you about all of the great games in Surf Club and let you see just how clever they are!

Centre News
Over the summer we have had lots of exciting things happening in our centre!
Our special Holiday Lizard card went on many journeys and action packed adventures. Our members brought back photographs of themselves in places as far flung as, Camon Islands and Australia and with animals as exotic elephants and lizards as big as the kids! All members who brought back a photograph received a Golden Lizard card at the end of the Summer Holidays and the winning picture recieved a prize!
As usual Surf Club is packed with fun and exciting activities and throughout the summer we had an "Around The World" themed challenge! Children were involved in making drawings, competition entries, word searches, even writing their name in Hieroglyphics! Every month we have a new theme that is designed to inspire our members.
