Additional courses
Explore Writing
We will be launching our exciting creative writing course in March. We have a specially designed programme that is set to stimulate and stretch your imagination! Using literary techniques to create stories, newspaper articles and play scripts we have something for every creative mind out there!
Explore Writing is open to all of our members aged 8 and above. Please let a centre manager know if you would like to secure your child a place on this popular course.
11+ Tuition
Are you off to grammar school next year? Our 11+ course, which started at the end of January, is excellent preparation for your entrance exam. Focusing on all aspects of the test we guide you through verbal and non-verbal reasoning in a fun and supportive atmosphere. We also accept children who aren’t sitting an entrance exam but who are looking for a real challenge onto this course. Drop into the centre and talk to Grace to find how we can really prepare you for your exam!
Succeed in Secondary
Also coming soon we will be offering this fantastic course that is designed to build on vital skills required for Secondary school. We look at issues in the news today and create exciting projects based around them. These range from PowerPoint presentations and newspaper reports to practicing note taking and debating. If you are in year 6 or above and want to find out more please come into the centre and talk to one of the managers.
Schools & Local Community
We are very keen to build on our strong schools and community programme in Leicester, working alongside schools, libraries and community groups to hold fun maths and literacy rallies.

What our teachers think…
“The Year 4,5 & 6 pupils really enjoyed their maths sessions with you yesterday. Thank you for making their session so enjoyable and relevant to them.”

Centre News & Local Events
We are currently offering schools, libraries, community groups and even individual children the opportunity to enter the National Young Writer of the Year Award. This is an exciting competition where young people can enter by writing a 500 word story on the subject of lost and found. Entry forms can be collected at the centre and participating schools and libraries. The winning entry will get a trip to DisneyLand Paris for them and their family (subject to terms and conditions) and £500 worth of books for their school!
Look out for us in The Highcross centre over February half-term. We’ll be there all week trying to write, with the help of the children passing by, the Longest Story in Leicester! In October half-term we managed to write 20 metres of story, however, we were beaten by the people of Leamington who managed to write 30 metres, we are determined to do better this time!
We are launching our older members’ night on Monday 1st March! All children at Secondary School are entitled to older member privileges and are welcome to attend our ‘Oldies’ evening on Mondays. These privileges include being able to use your MP3 players during your surf club times, and if your parents permit it, you may use them during those maths and English activities for which you don’t need your headphones. You will also be given your own note book to make notes on anything important that you learn whilst you’re here, i.e. methods in maths.
