INDUCTION TRAINING

The Assistant Director Induction Training is provided via an extensive centre based programme; Head Office based consolidation training and inter centre exchanges.

Centre-Based Induction Training

The Induction Programme is focused on training new Assistant Directors in a combination of educational skills such as National Curriculum teaching methods, and business skills such as Financial Management and Budget Control. Your Centre Director will schedule times for you to be trained in specific modules within your first few months of employment. The aim of the centre based programme is for you to gain an overall understanding and competency in all aspects of centre management.

The induction process encourages you to rapidly learn many new skills. Mentoring sessions allow regular opportunities for you and your Centre Director to gain feedback and more importantly for you to ask questions about what you have learnt. Throughout your employment your Centre Director will constantly be mentoring you in ways in which you could improve your performance. It is also your own responsibility to actively assess your own development and ask your centre team for advice on how to improve.
 

Self Study 

Throughout your Induction Training there is an emphasis placed on you taking responsibility for your own development. An essential element of this is the completion of the ‘Self Study’ component of the induction. Self Study allows you to study the SuccessMaker curriculum and other courses and software in more detail. Completion is vital to allow access to other key training modules.
 
Head Office Induction Training

Each new Assistant Director completes a two day consolidation Induction Training course at Head Office within their first three months with Explore Learning. This allows you to meet other new Assistant Directors, to share experiences, and learn in more depth about Explore Learning as a business as well as develop your sales skills.

 

inter centre exchange

An important element of induction training is an opportunity to visit another centre. This centre visit/exchange usually takes place once you have been with us between 3-6 months. The centre visit should allow you to experience a different type of centre environment,  i.e a capacity centre or recently launched centre, and therefore allow you to develop new skills. The centre exchanges are a minimum of 3 days. Prior to the visit you will complete a Centre Exchange Objectives Form with details of what you which to experience/achieve on your centre visit.

 

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Once competent in key skills required for centre performance, Assistant Directors enter the next phase of their individual training scheme.  Professional development encourages each Assistant Director to build expertise in specific skill areas and prepares individuals for promotion to Centre Director. Currently, professional development training days are held monthly at Head Office.

  • Teaching Strategies.
  • Special Educational Needs.
  • Improving Customer Loyalty and Relations.
  • Marketing Strategy, Implementation and Tracking.
  • Sales Techniques and Strategies.
  • Team Management and Training.
  • Motivation and Leadership.
  • Commercial Awareness.

Once Assistant Directors have shown commitment, competence and drive in all areas they are invited to attend an interview for the opportunity to be approved for progression to Centre Director. Please see our section on 'Progression' for more information.
