Welcome to Explore Learning in Merton, Colliers Wood!

This summer marks three years since Explore Learning first opened its doors in Merton. Since 2006 we have helped hundreds of children in the area to make outstanding progress with their Maths and English. The team are very enthusiastic to continue to support all of our new and existing members to increase in confidence and ability, by making their sessions as exciting and motivating as possible. Merton families see their children grow in eagerness to learn with our inspiring tutors, and we are constantly receiving great feedback from parents and local teachers alike.

What our parents think...
"Tom has done amazingly well since coming to Explore.  He is only in his second month of coming but already I have noticed an improvement in reading, maths and most of all confidence.  I would recommend this to anyone.  Tom loves it here!"
Lynne Smith, Explore Parent

Our exciting creative writing course runs on Tuesdays from 7pm-8pm. We have a specially designed syllabus that is set to stimulate and stretch your child's imagination! We use exercises designed to help children to be creative in all aspects of their writing from stories and newspaper articles to play scripts and poetry!  We have something for every creative mind out there so if you're interested in coming along for a free session, why not ask a manager!

Succeed in Secondary,
Wednesday from 7-8pm
If you are in Year 6 or above then why not come along to our Succeed in Secondary course? To prepare you for secondary school we look at issues in the news today and create exciting projects based around them. These range from PowerPoint presentations and newspaper reports to practising note taking, debating and developing presentation skills. There are limited spaces available on this course so ask a manager about when you can get started.

11+ tuition, Monday and Thursday from 7-8pm
Are you off to grammar school next year? Our 11+ course is excellent preparation for your entrance exam and tailored to the requirements of the local Grammar and Independent Schools. Focusing on all aspects of the test we guide you through English, maths, verbal and non-verbal reasoning in a fun and supportive atmosphere. Drop into the centre and talk to the team to find how we can really prepare you for your exam!

Explore Learning and Schools

Since opening, the team at Merton have worked with many local schools providing free numeracy and literacy workshops. Our workshops are national curriculum aligned and are designed to get children of all ages really enthusiastic about their work. We can provide assembly activities and love to get involved with other activities happening at the schools i.e. school fetes and Christmas fairs.

If you would like us to get involved in activities in your school, please don’t hesitate to contact the centre as we will be happy to provide you with a booking form for the literacy and numeracy workshops over the next couple of terms or to discuss other possibilities with you.

Workshops

We have coordinated events in our local leisure centres playing interactive and energising games with children of all ages. We regularly host maths and English workshops at our local libraries, which are free for families in the area. The Donald Hope Library has been host to a number of our recent events and we have really enjoyed meeting the children who frequent their facility.

Members Workshops

During the school holidays we hold a number of free workshops. These cover all ages and all members are welcome to sign up!  Have a look at our booking brochure on reception or speak to a manager about which one will suit you best.

Open Sessions

Open sessions are a great opportunity to find out more about your child's work at Explore. Come along to the centre and let your child be your tutor for the afternoon, they can show you their work, tell you about all of the great games in Surf Club and let you see just how clever they are!

Our next open session will be held on:

  • 9th October, 7-8pm
