Explore Learning - History & Philosophy

Explore was founded in December 2000 by Bill Mills (see Management Team) and opened its first centre in Chelmsford in October 2001.  It has since grown rapidly and now has centres across the UK.

Bill's aim was to establish a network of centres where talented tutors would work in a low ratio with children to meet their individual needs. His vision for Explore was that it would complement a child's school experience in a positive way, helping them to succeed in the classroom.

He wanted children to enjoy Explore and for the motivation for attending to come from them as much as their parents and this emphasis on fun is evident in the vibrant atmosphere of the centres.

He believes that confidence, enthusiasm and independence are as important as academic progress to a child's development, an ethos which is at the heart of Explore's approach.
