My experience with children has motivated me to pursue a career in the education sector.  Through Explore I hope to inspire children to achieve their potential and enjoy their learning experiences. "

Emily graduated in 2010 from the University of Leeds with a 2.1 in Theatre and Performance.  She has gained experience working at children’s summer camps and Brownies, as well as in schools. Whilst at University Emily helped to create and tour a piece of Theatre in Education, aimed at years one and two. Alongside this role she also spent time as a literacy mentor at a secondary school in Leeds.

Emma graduated in 2011 with a 2:1 Combined Honours degree in Psychology and Management from Newcastle University. Throughout her A-levels and University she gained experience working with children in a variety of settings including a school for children with Special Educational Needs and a young person’s helpline. The experience and the variety of children and parents she met inspired her to pursue a career in an educational setting.
 

Katie Pigeon

Being a member of the team at Explore allows me to not only help children to reach their full academic potential, but also to see them grow in confidence too.  I love the vibrant and exciting environment of Explore centres, which are always fun and educational for the children.”
 
Before joining Explore, Katie graduated from the University of Durham in 2011 with a 2:i BA (Hons) degree in Modern Languages and Cultures (German and Russian.) During the course of her degree, Katie undertook a 6 month work placement in a Special Educational Needs school in Hamburg, Germany. Whilst there, Katie taught English and Maths lessons to children aged 5-16 and ran some extra-curricular clubs, such as cheerleading, food technology, and a class newspaper. Katie also taught English to secondary school pupils and university students in St. Petersburg and Kostroma, Russia. On returning back to the UK, Katie decided to follow her passion for teaching, and partook in a voluntary primary school project at university, assisting classes and teaching German to pupils in years 5 and 6.
