Sophie Cook

Centre Director

“I am passionate about giving every child the opportunity to reach their full potential. I love working for Explore Learning as their diverse resources enable us to help children with any area of maths and English that they find tricky. It is a very rewarding job when you see that a child, who previously lacked confidence and an interest in a subject, now practices it with relish.”

Sophie joined Explore after graduating from the University of Exeter with a 2:1 in History. The focus of her degree reflected her interest in education, choosing to research the introduction of compulsory education in the late nineteenth century for her dissertation. During her studies, Sophie always wanted to work with children and volunteered at her local primary school, working with children from Reception through to Year 6. Sophie also volunteered at Gifted and Talented courses run by her university for local schools.

In her spare time Sophie enjoys going to the cinema, expanding her cookery skills and visiting new places.

Explore Learning commits to helping children overcome challenges and to succeed academically. It enables children to grow in confidence in a fun learning environment that really celebrates success.”

Harsha graduated from the University of Birmingham with a 2:1 in History and Geography. She was selected to represent her university as a Student Ambassador and worked with pupils from various ages and backgrounds. She educated young people about university via workshops and school visits with the aim of widening participation in higher education. Additionally, Harsha volunteered at the university play scheme for primary school children in the local community. After graduating, Harsha gained valuable teaching experience by volunteering in a local state primary school in Rajasthan, India. Teaching English in India was rewarding and strengthened her desire for a career in motivating children through education.

It is fantastic to see children growing in confidence and ability with the help of Explore Learning. I love being part of a hard working and passionate team who want children to progress in their education.”
