The standard Explore Curriculum covers the first three years of secondary school, and hundreds of secondary school children attend Explore centres for maths and English tuition every week.  We also run a specialist course called Succeed in Secondary, which covers many of the new skills required at secondary school.

Succeed in Secondary

For children in Years 6-9 (P7-S3 in Scotland)

As young people move from primary to secondary school the skills required to do well at school change.  This weekly dedicated secondary school course allows young people to come together and grow in confidence in areas such as essay writing, debating, study skills and life skills that will take them through secondary school, Further and Higher education and into the working world.

At Explore Learning we understand the need to keep young people motivated and so we use dynamic and youth-orientated topics to practise skills that enable your child to succeed in secondary school. Some of the examples of our Succeed In Secondary lessons are Komodo Dragon's Den where, based on the popular BBC Television programme, the young people work on a 4-week project in which they have to design a product, understand more about marketing it, agree through team work and deliver a selling pitch to a group of 'Dragons'.

Other sessions include:

•  Discursive essay writing
•  Summary writing
•  Debating Presentations
•  Note-taking skills
•  Newspaper/Journalistic writing
•  Understanding budgets
Your child must be signed up to the Explore Secondary membership package in order to attend this course. Please contact your nearest centre for more details, or book a free taster session by filling in the form on the right.
